? Together with Assistant Coordinator, other staff and youth participants planning and implementing after-school program.
? The Coordinator must foster the empowerment of youth through their leadership style and coordination of the program. Youth voice in decision-making is an essential element in leadership development and creating social change.
? Must work towards the goal of achieving that program space is, at all times, an oppression-free zone ensuring a safe space for all who participate.
? Supports and educates youth participants in developing personal and group leadership skills while assisting youth in creating effective social change within their community.
? Adheres to and maintains compliance with mandated work plan including maintaining database, taking accurate attendance and producing reports.
? Supervises youth in after-school program at all times.
? Prepares and facilitates/ co-facilitates educational workshops using Popular Education methodology. Workshops will be aimed at helping participants in the areas of communication, anger management, conflict resolution, diversity & multicultural awareness, leadership development, social change (campaign planning), team building, health, and other topics as needed.
? Ability and willingness to deal with behavior incidents within the program with preference towards restorative justice methods (i.e. peace circles.)
? Assists with recreational and educational activities such as outdoor/indoor sports and organized games, tutoring, arts, educational activities and field trips.
? Tutors participants in specific academic subject areas.
? Develops and maintains positive relationships with school administration and staff.
? Participates in staff development activities and staff meetings.
? Works with the Youth Program Director and other coordinators on program evaluation and planning.
? Ability to commit at least one school year to this position (preferably two years)
? Be on-time, reliable, prompt and proactive
? Adhere to Participatory Management philosophy.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field; 2+ years of experience working with underserved children and families of various cultural/ethnic backgrounds (may include volunteer experience); [Strong preference for bi-lingual (Spanish-English) speaking abilities.] YDPCP certification a plus.
