The film is a cerebral thriller in the vein of the work of David Cronenberg (The Fly, Videodrome, eXistenz) with some surreal touches of David Lynch (Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive). The story revolves around a scientist couple, Jude and Regina who have been conducting experiments on teleportation for the last 7 years and have decided that they will now attempt their first human transfer. Whereas movies such as the The Fly have explored the possibility of accidental mutation this film focuses on inter-dimensional travel and the possibility of accidentally "bringing something back". Although elements of the story and concepts may be similar to other films this short will be like nothing you've seen before. Its a surreal head trip that examines the fears of losing one's own identity through technology.
We are currently looking for Two Male Actors around the age of 30 of any race or ethnicity. We also looking for a Female Actress also around the age of 30, again of any race or ethnicity. The film has adult themes and all three roles will require some partial nudity so please be reticent of this if you decide participate in the film. It is by no means gratuitous or distasteful in any way but please be aware of this.
We will be holding auditions this Saturday September 1st from 10am-3pm at Theatre Momentum for all three parts and then rehearsals will begin near the end of September and into October. Filming will take place in beginning to middle of November.
This is a fantastic opportunity for actors to improve their resumes and reels and we will of course give all actors, copies of the film and any other production materials they may want afterwards. All meals on production days will also be provided. (Hurray food!) This film will be marketed to various film festivals including, the prestigous Fantastic Fest, London Horror Festival, SXSW Film Festival, and the Naperville Film Festival to name a few. Several of which our dedicated and experienced team have already had success with earlier films. Unfortunately, we cannot offer immediate compensation to our actors but we will offer deferral agreements if the film generates revenue in the future.
The writer and director of the film Blake Labriola is a successful independent filmmaker from the Chicagoland area who graduated from Columbia College Chicago. His previous films have been in various festivals including the Naperville Film Festival and the London International Film Festival.
