More infoMummies and Masterpieces is seeking responsible and progressive educators to teach its after school and enrichment programs. Classes include slide discussions, art projects and "learning to look" games based on worldwide museum masterpieces. They generally run for one hour in schools and are offered for all age groups. Most programs begin at 3:30 pm and end at 4:30 pm. and run for 6, 8 or ten weeks. Some classes are offered earlier in the day and can start as early as 1:00 pm. Candidates MUST have an undergraduate or graduate degree in the field of Education. Degrees in Art History or Studio Art are a plus, but not required. All educators will be trained by the Director of Mummies and Masterpieces and will not be sent into the classroom without feeling comfortable and confident with the curriculum. All staff members will participate in trainings on important educational ideas, such as Understanding Learning Styles and Methods of Questioning. They will then participate in group training sessions and study about the masterpieces to be taught for that season. These training sessions will be held in Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Staff will be considered part time employees and will be hired after a successful interview, background checks, and drug tests. Drug tests will also be conducted on an ongoing, random basis. Benefits are not included with this position. Pay will be hourly, PER PROGRAM/CLASS. Mummies and Masterpieces educators must consider themselves as having a strong connection to their students, putting "their all" into providing these exciting, educational and cultural experiences for them. Educators MUST be sure that they can arrive in a timely manner to their classes, be set up and ready to welcome their students and get started in a prepared and relaxed way.

* sharpen students' observation skills by learning to look at works of art
* enhance children's vocabulary through child-centered art discussions
* provide visual and hands-on learning opportunities, so that more children can feel success in school
* enable students to explore and understand the characteristics of various art media
* involve students in problem solving activities through hands-on art projects
