MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE (1) YEAR OF AGENCY, HOME HEALTH, HOSPICE, OR HOMECARE PAID CAREGIVING EXPERIENCE TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION.

Part-Time Hourly as well as Live-In positions are available.

Hourly Caregivers are required to have a current driver's license, auto insurance, and own transportation; and at least one (1) year of paid experience.

We are very selective and will require: fingerprint background check, current TB, physical, and drug screen (we pay for all).

We also provide for you Caregiver Training taught by one of our excellent teachers; and an efficient administrative support staff. Our customer base is primarily within 20 miles of The British Home, located near 31st St. and 1st Avenue (right across from the Brookfield Zoo) 8700 W. 31st Street, Brookfield, IL 60513. We are a Retirement Community reaching out to the larger Community to provide services to those who need us!

We help seniors stay independent and well in their own homes...24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Here is a list of the services that you as a Caregiver may provide:

NUTRITIONAL SERVICES--meal planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, prepared meal deliveries (specialized diets may be requested); PERSONAL CARE--medication reminders, wellness checks, mobility support, assistance with bathing, and dressing, fingernail and toenail care, transportation to salon services, fitness and exercise support;

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES--Doctor visits, shopping, church, social events, help running errands, personal shopper services; HOUSEHOLD CARE--home clearning, home organization, laundry and ironing service, Handyman services (available through our HandyMender Program); COMPANSIONSHIP & FUN--trips to movies and restaurants, conversation, chess, checkers, cards and other games, friendly visits to do the things our clients love.

So, in other words, you will be providing compassionate services to our clients, just like you provide or have provided for your family members or neighbors......! We're looking for excellent Caregivers........are you one of them?

General Summary:
To provide non-medical services for the customer(s). Service will be performed in accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state and facility standards, guidelines and regulations governing the company, and as may be required by Staying at Home management to ensure that the highest degree of services are provided at all times.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: This description is intended only to identify the basic responsibilities and requirements of this job classification and does not prevent the assignment of other job-related duties. Successful job applicants will be able to perform these essential functions with or without requested reasonable accommodation.

1. Provide customer with assistance, including but not limited to: meal preparation; bed making; washing of clothes; cleaning; shopping and/or perform other household tasks as outlined in the customer agreement.

2. Provide companionship services, including but not limited to: visiting, taking for a walk, etc., as outlined in the customer agreement.

3. May be asked to transport and/or escort customer to and from medical visits, shopping, etc.

4. May be asked to assist with bathing and/or personal hygiene.

5. Provide one-on-one communication to customers or customers' family members as necessary.

6. Make objective observations of changes in customers' condition and report these changes to the supervisor in a timely manner.

7. Complete all necessary paperwork and/or documentation in a timely manner in accordance with department policies and procedures.

8. Consistently demonstrate an ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner.

9. Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.

10. Attend in-services, meetings and educational training in accordance with company's policies and procedures.

11. Perform tasks/duties and utilize forms in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
Job Evaluation Criteria

A. Knowledge/Skill/Experience
Ø High School diploma or equivalent.
Ø Valid Illinois Drivers license with current applicable insurance for those who drive.
Ø One (1) year of previous experience as a Caregiver or equivalent preferred.
Ø Completion of State of Illinois 8-hr. training class prior to hire, per State regulations.
Ø Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with a diverse group of people.
Ø Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers, residents, patients, tenants, personnel, family members, visitors and the general public.
Ø Ability to work assignments independently with little or no supervision.
Ø Ability and willingness to work harmoniously within a team environment departmentally.
Ø Aptitude for detail work.
Ø Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Ø Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.

B. Contact with Others

Extensive contact with customers on a daily basis. Daily contact with all levels of personnel within the company. Some interaction with customers' family members.

C. Delegation of Authority

As a Companion you are delegated the responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

D. Responsibility for Confidential Data

Employees are required to safeguard sensitive information. Sensitive information includes, but shall not be limited to, information concerning The British Home's former and current residents/clients, medical and health information and The British Home's information systems including but not limited to the Internet and E-mail.

E. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ø Must be in good general health, as set forth by this company and division; and maintain personal good health and safety practices to be able to do the job..
Ø May require bending, lifting, pushing, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; and the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Ø May be requested to work in excess of scheduled hours, including on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Ø Individual will be scheduled based on operational need.
Ø Individual may be asked to work overnight hours as requested by the Staying at Home Manager as outlined in the customer agreement.
Ø May be required to work in adverse weather conditions.

F. Exposure Classification
Ø Job duties are classified as Category II (no routine contact with blood, body fluids or tissues).
Ø Routine exposure to chemicals, which are identified for use in homes or in The British Home.
