Title of Position: Server, Restaurant

General Purpose:

Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty to take orders and serve food and beverages to patrons at tables in dining establishment striving to provide exceptional service.

Qualifications

Service oriented personality. Must be able to communicate clearly in English and understand information using verbal, written, and listening skills. Complete on-site training period and pass final exam. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess a valid Basset Certificate.

Essential Duties

1. Dependably attend scheduled work shift in a positive state of mind meeting dress and grooming standards for a professional appearance.
2. Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, informing guests of daily specials and making recommendations upon request.
3. Check guest's identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
4. Knowledgably suggest wines and spirits that compliment menu selections.
5. Collect payments from customers.
6. Take orders from guests and write guests' food orders on order slip or memorize orders to enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
7. Check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
8. Serve food or beverages to guests.
9. Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
10. Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to kitchen for cleaning.
11. Correctly demonstrate all technical functions of a server (position points, POS, menu descriptions, suggestive selling, etc.
12. Assist management in maintaining restaurant service standards.
13. Must follow, administer and implement Wheaton Park District policies and guidelines.
14. Provide excellent customer service to the internal and external customer by greeting them and smiling when they come into the Arrowhead Golf Club.
15. Practice teamwork with other staff.
16. Must maintain a valid Basset Certificate.

Safety, Health and Loss Control

1. Be familiar with the Employee Safety Manual.
2. Maintain a clean and sanitary work area to prevent food borne illness.

Other Duties/Responsibilities

1. Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges while being careful about detail and thoroughness in work tasks.
2. Present honest work ethic.
3. Assist peers when needed or requested.
4. Flexible to changes.

Hours:
24-36 hrs per week
Days, nights, weekends & holidays

Salary:
$4.95 per hr plus tips
