Business Analyst/Technical Specification Writer 6 MONTH PROJECT

Position
Our client, a fast growing mobile provider located in Costa Mesa/Irvine, California is embarking on several large projects this summer and is in need of a seasoned business analyst to ensure that all project requirements are clearly captured and articulated to participating stakeholders.

The business analyst will work side by side with the product and technical teams. This role will be expected to span the product lifecycle from planning & documentation, to implementation, to testing, and finally on to continuing product support. This is not a project manager position.

The business analyst will take business requirements from product, and create use cases and technical specifications for consumption by the development and QA teams. The business analyst will be expected to produce the following documents:

Use case scenarios
Functional requirements
Technical specifications
Work & process flow diagrams
GUI/Wireframes
Test plans

Our Client uses APIs extensively to communicate internally with our user interfaces and externally with partners. A successful candidate will achieve rapid mastery of our APIs and our key partners' APIs, and become the API subject matter expert. This understanding will be applied when translating product requirements into technical specifications for our development group.

Additionally, Our Client maintains multiple user interfaces spanning a variety of customers. This includes web applications, IVR systems, SMS, and back office CRM clients. The ideal candidate will have experience designing process flows for many different UI types, and be able to clearly communicate product requirements for all of our touch points.

All specifications must be cognizant of their overall impact on our systems from both a performance and customer life cycle perspective. In order for our products to work as a single unified product, a wide range of back end processes, customer actions, and partner initiated events must all work in concert with each other. The business analyst must be able to produce specifications which achieve new product goals while not adversely impacting ongoing services.

Finally, the successful candidate must maintain and update our institutional knowledge base as our product and code changes.

Requirements

Must have extremely strong requirements documentation and change management skills.
Must have strong ability to learn/understand technical implications of system design. Previous experience working on complex systems with long term customer lifecycles a plus.
A mastery of best practices for web applications, software development, and business processes.
Very strong technical knowledge: Perl or PHP, OOP, SQL, HTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript, etc..You should be able to speak fluently with developers in their languages.
We are agile and use the Atlassian suite of tools You should have experience working with JIRA, Confluence, Greenhopper, version control systems, etc. . .
Must be a self starter, be able to learn new concepts quickly and work productively with minimal direction under tight deadlines.
Ability to define project scope and technical specifications, facilitate the collection of technical, operational or business requirements, set milestones to successful completion
Excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation, problem resolution and customer service
Outstanding performers will have high-level business expertise, be able to multi-task, be pro-active in project planning and requirements gathering, set and maintain multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with people regardless of their technical skill set.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including the ability to establish goals and set clear expectations, prioritize activities and follow through to completion
Experience with software development life cycle and application release management required
