Railroad construction contractor is searching for a full-time, Staff Accountant for their fast paced office in Romeoville, IL. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration or 5-7 years in construction accounting.

This position is responsible for A/R, A/P, payroll, account reconciliations and administration and must be able to work with minimal supervision. The most highly qualified candidate will have knowledge of Sage Timberline, construction project management and accounting, and the ability to coordinate people and resources.

Overview:
This is a fast paced office environment. There are several divisions in operation with multiple ongoing jobs in process. Attention to detail is a must. This position is responsible for handling all tasks given with little or no supervision. Responsible for keeping Division Supervisor and Controller informed of all situations requiring immediate attention. The Staff Accountant must be able to complete tasks in a timely fashion and must be able to multi-task. Problem solving is imperative. Must be able to assess a situation and problem solve with little or no supervision.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable
? Includes contract/invoice analysis and problem solving
? Billing

Accounts Payable
? Includes invoice review, problem solving and entry

Payroll and Certified Payroll Reporting
? Bi-Weekly payroll entry with Timberline
? Payroll Taxes, Child Support and garnishments

Credit Cards: BOA & COMDATA
? Administration of credit cards by division
? Distribute weekly reports
? Process monthly payments

Assist Corporate Controller for special projects:
? Sales & use tax returns
? Bank Reconciliations
? Equipment tracking and costing

Work closely with Division Administrative Project Managers

Knowledge:
? Construction project management and accounting, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
? Using mathematics to solve problems.
? Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
? Communicating effectively, in writing, as appropriate for the needs of the customers, vendors, owners and supervisors.

Software Programs include:
? Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
? Sage Timberline
? Microsoft Explorer
? Internet Navigation

Education and Training:
A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business administration is the minimum academic preparation for this position. However, 5-7 years of experience in construction accounting can be used as an equivalent for formal education.

Additional Duties, not limited to, but include: Miscellaneous tasks, as given, by the CEO or Controller.
