Job Summary

As a Peter Field tailor/seamstress/operator you will be an integral part of Peter Field's ability to maintain the high quality of products offered and customer service, performing wide-ranging functions from fitting garments, to basic alterations, and light manufacturing.

Scope:

The position will be focused on completing men's and women's alterations for all garments, excluding bridal dresses. The position will occasionally required work constructing custom men's accessories. Working hours are flexible and primarily determined by you while considering amount of work required to hit set due dates.

Job Duties

? Produce professional finished goods and upscale menswear accessories.
? Accurately take measurements of customers' neck, arm, chest, and waist.
? Have a basic understanding of the alteration system and a working ability to check in/out garments.
? Perform customer fittings by determining the needs of the garment on the customer and taking note of customer requests.
? Have knowledge of industry-wide markings to indicate alterations needed.
? Have knowledge of fabric limitations and standard tailoring concepts, procedures, and practices.
? Sew garments with needle and thread and by machine.
? Read and understand documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
? Help create and maintain relationships that lead to long term business growth.
? Maintain sewing machines in good working order and keep a clean work area
? Have a working knowledge of the machines used in the alteration of garments
? Complete daily assignments, meet deadlines with accuracy, and demonstrate a sense of urgency.
? Pleasantly interact and communicate with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
? Dress in conservative casual business attire regularly, appropriate casual attire can be worn on a normal basis.
? Work independently with minimal or no supervision.

Qualifications

? Experience with sewing machines is a must.
? Ability to learn, interpret, apply and retain a variety of instructions and policies and procedures.
? Thorough knowledge of basic machines used in alterations and light manufacturing.
? Detail oriented.
? Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Compensation

? $10-18/hr dependent on skill set and experience
? Paid weekly
? 1099 contract
