Accounting Manager (Chicago Loop)

More infoWe are looking for an Accounting Manager to join PROTEIN BAR! We just opened our 5th location with a few more planned this year and are looking to grow our core team.

We need someone to help build our accounting and finance infrastructure and manage the beasts known as financial reporting, accounting, forecasting and controlling needs for the company.

Specific Responsibilities
Prepare monthly restaurant financials
Prepare monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts monthly for each location and corporate
Ensure cash balances reconcile to sales and prepare monthly reports
Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation
Review invoices for proper coding and approval
Enter all miscellaneous invoices into accounting system on a daily basis
Upload and reconcile store food invoices batches on a daily basis
Review vendor statements and research outstanding items
Ensure all outstanding invoices greater than 30 days are researched and resolved
Prepares general ledger and records involved in the production of financial statements
Handles the routine activities and accuracy of the following accounting functions:
Payroll (employee entry, bi-weekly processing, reporting)
General accounting (all computerized accounting systems, primary check generator and responsible for accuracy)
AP and A/R
Inventory (pulling data from GMs and entering into records)
Cash Management and Bank Reconciliation
Interfaces with all departments to insure systems are documented and adhered to
Prepares sales tax and returns
Prepares materials for accounting audit team
Prepare monthly financial reports that allow for performance management:
Store level P&L
Corporate P&L
Balance sheet
Cash Flow
GL analysis
Store Dashboards

Who you are:
2-4 years of accounting experience
Willing and able to work 45-50 hours a week or whatever it takes to make sure everything ties out
Can design and implement streamlined best-practices for disbursements and tracking
Have composed the equivalent of Flight of the Bumble Bee in Excel and like to show it off
Are so organized you have a folder labeled "labels"
Can walk, chew gum, and reconcile a bank account at the same time
Can play utility infielder by taking on new and unfamiliar roles to drive the success of this growing company
Have embraced a culture of full transparency
Can respond to all forms of communication promptly and thoughtfully
Can live the values of the company in everything that you do
Are excited to deliver a high standard of cross-departmental service and act as a brand ambassador for the company in everything that you do
Able to use multiple computing platforms (Quickbooks, Google Docs, Microsoft Office, etc)
Healthy sense of humor
Experience in an entrepreneurial environment
Interest in fitness (competitive or non-competitive)
